Have you ever thought about offering children’s services at your spa? Some spa owners think it’s a great idea, while others are very skeptical about the entire thing.
If you are going to offer spa services for children, you will probably want to offer then in an area which is separate from the regular spa. In other words, do not have the child’s pedicure chair with all of the rest of the other pedicure chairs.
Many women come to the spa to get away from their children and do not want to be bothered by someone else’s child at the spa. Place the child’s pedicure chair in a separate room, along with one regular pedicure chair. This way, mom and daughter can have pedicures together without disturbing the other guests.
Offering massages to children can be tricky. Some massage therapists, scared of lawsuits, will not offer them at all. Others are quite comfortable giving them. My advice is that if you offer massages for children, have the adult stay in the room with you while you are doing the massage. This helps the child and the parent feel more comfortable.
If you have the available and willing staff to handle it, it is fun to offer spa parties as children’s birthday parties. This is usually great for business and can become quite a trend.
